Dear Ms. Erman,

I was  happy to  receive  your note  of 27  January.   The dates  you
indicated  are both  agreeable  with me  (Feb. 16  or  18).   I'm now
checking with other schools, to try to coordinate a "circle" trip, so
that CMU need  only bear a fraction of my  airfare expenses. My plans
should  be definite by this  Monday (Feb. 2), and  I'll tell you then
which days I'll be spending at Carnegie.
